Congestion Around Laurel Parking Garage Thru September 4

TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 17, 2009) – From Monday, Aug. 17 - Friday, Sept. 4, traffic in and around the Laurel Parking Garage will be more congested than normal due to the heavy volume of students, faculty and staff visiting Parking & Transportation Services to pick up their parking permits.

In the past, customers have been instructed to park in Lot 42, the flat paved lot south of the Laurel Parking Garage. However, with the addition of the new Medical Faculty Office Building and Morsani Center for Advance Health care, this lot now routinely fills up on a daily basis by 8 a.m. Therefore, Lot 42 will be closed after 8 a.m., and all customers will be directed to park on levels three, four, five and six of the Laurel Parking Garage.

If you have an “E” permit and routinely park in Lot 42, please note that this lot will be closed after it fills up shortly after 8:00 a.m. each day. If you need to leave in the middle of the workday, you will not be able to return to this lot. If this happens, you may park on levels three, four, five or six of the Laurel Parking Garage from Monday, Aug. 17 – Friday, Sept. 4, without fear of receiving a parking citation.

This relaxation of the parking restrictions DOES NOT apply to Reserved and Patient Parking (including Valet) spaces on levels one and two of the Laurel Parking Garage.

We want to provide a safe environment in which everyone can enter and exit the garage as seamlessly and safely as possible, so please pay attention and drive slowly.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience during this upcoming busy week at USF.
