Mohsen Milani to Testify in Washington, D.C.

TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2009) – University of South Florida Professor Mohsen Milani will testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Joint Subcommittee on Foreign Affairs Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. on the subject of Iran in the Western Hemisphere. Milani chairs the USF Department of Government and International Affairs and has written over fifty articles and book chapters about the revolution of 1979 and Iran’s foreign and security policy.  His book, The Making Of Iran's Islamic Revolution: From Monarchy To Islamic Republic, is required reading at universities in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and Iran.  He is an internationally recognized authority on Iran’s politics and its foreign policy as well as politics of the Persian Gulf region.


The subcommittees on the Western Hemisphere, chaired by Eliot L. Engel (D-NY), the Middle East and South Asia, chaired by Gary L. Ackerman (D-NY), and Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade, chaired by Brad Sherman (D-CA), will hear from Milani and four other witnesses. The session will be recorded and possibly telecast. 


“It is an honor to be able to share my perspective on Iran and Venezuela’s relationship with the nation’s leading policymakers,” Milani said.


Born in Tehran, Milani completed his high school and higher education in the United States, and earned a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Southern California.
