Reminder: NetID Password Expiration and Tips

TAMPA, Fla. (February 4, 2010) – Don’t forget: All USF faculty and staff must change their NetID password by Feb. 8. For complete details, click here.

IT wants to remind all users to be aware of the on-going need for security education in our community.  Although the passwords you use daily may be strong enough, according to research conducted by Trusteer, a provider of secure browser services, 73% of financial services customers use the same online account passwords to access multiple websites, and 47% use both their online banking user ID and password to login to other sites on the internet.

The widespread reuse of online credentials is being exploited by criminals who have devised various methods to steal your login credentials from less secure sites, such as webmail and social networking sites.

To help aid the USF community in choosing strong passwords for all of their accounts, USF IT has created Security & You, with information about how to create a strong password and other tips to keep your information secure.
