USF Women's Status Committee Grants Mini Awards

Tampa, FL (March 18, 2010) – The USF Women’s Status Committee is sponsoring MiniAwards to recognize and support women and USF organizations that work for women’s issues.


MiniAwards from $250 to $500 will be awarded to individual(s) or organization(s) working to support or highlight women’s issues and concerns at USF. The mission of the Women’s Status Committee, one of five President Advisory Committees at USF, is to encourage and support activities that highlight women’s issues and concerns, help ensure equal access to educational opportunities and services provided to women, and recognize leadership qualities in those working to advance women and girls.


Who can apply?

Applicants for the MiniAwards can be either an individual or a USF organization. The applicant must have an affiliation with USF, either as a student, faculty, staff, employee, or organization. Each applicant (or representative of a USF organization) is required to complete this application and to write an proposal of no more than 250 words explaining how s/he or the organization has worked to improve the lives of girls and women through mentoring, career advancement, healthcare, safety and wellbeing, programs and activities, or social justice projects.


What can the funds be used for?

Individuals may wish to utilize MiniAwards to offset the cost of books, research materials, conference registrations, or travel expenses. Organizations may wish to utilize mini-awards to help sponsor speakers, offset food expenses, host conferences or meetings, fund publicity materials, or purchase advertising. There will be a maximum of 10 awards given, six that can be used for expenses and four that can be used for food costs. The winning abstracts will be posted on the WSC Web site to promote women throughout the year at USF.


When is the deadline?
