WLP Honors Students, Faculty and Community Members

TAMPA, Fla. (April 12, 2010) -- On April 6, the USF Women in Leadership and Philanthropy program held its Spring Awards Dinner to recognize exemplary women in the USF and Tampa Bay communities. More than 150 people attended the event at the Marshall Student Center Ballroom.


The following women were recognized for the scholarly achievements, academic pursuits, and contributions to women both locally and globally:


2010 – 2011 Scholarship Recipients:

Nora Abdel-Rahim: WLP Endowed Scholarship

Victoria Spera: Elsie A. Moore Memorial Scholarship

Deanndra Burrowes: Vincent Zecchino, MD/Dream Givers USA Endowed Scholarship

Bethany Rowell: Esther Schneid Memorial Scholarship


Faculty Research Award:

Ellen M. Daley, PhD, MPH, Department of Community and Family Health, USF College of Public Health


Community Leadership Award:

Mona Jain, MD, PhD


The priorities of the USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy program are:

Support faculty research for the purpose of enhancing women’s initiatives both locally and globally


Celebrate the power of women’s philanthropy


Create a culture that recognizes and awards the achievements of women as leaders and philanthropists
