SG Hosts Discussion About High Speed Rail

TAMPA, Fla. (April 23, 2010) – Members of Student Government are hosting a community event to discuss mass transit plans for the entire region, including the proposed tax in Hillsborough County.

The event, titled “A Green Initiative for a Golden Future,” will take place Tuesday, April 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Marshall Student Center’s Oval Theater on the Tampa campus. All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate.

The proposals being debated are high speed rail from the Tampa Bay region to Orlando, including a stop at USF Polytechnic, and a proposed tax in Hillsborough County that would expand mass transit and begin a light rail system from USF to downtown Tampa to Tampa International Airport.
