TAMPA, Fla. (August 13, 2010) – There are two simple words that beckon the hearts (and stomachs) of the average college student.

Free. Food.

For more than five years, new and returning students have filled their stomachs and minds during USF’s Week of Welcome (WOW). Occurring Aug. 18 through Aug. 28, WOW is one of the largest and most comprehensive student welcome experiences in the state of Florida.

“Anytime you say ‘food,’ people are going to be drawn in. But as you’re munching, you’re actually learning. It’s a time for everyone to hang out and learn about something that they might not have learned about otherwise,” said WOW Peer Advisor Leader and USF student Nicole John.

With more than 100 events occurring during the 11-day welcome celebration, there will be plenty of food — and information — to go around. Almost every day of WOW provides opportunities for students to eat the three basic meals, as well as munch in between. From chicken wings to chocolate ice cream, Week of Welcome satiates USF students’ hunger for food, friends and fun.

You can also work off some of the calories with tons of events during WOW.

So grab a plate and a pen, and check out our rundown of where to get free food on campus during WOW. For a complete schedule of Week of Welcome events, visit the WOW website.
