USF May Host Gubernatorial Debate
The university will be the site of back-to-back political debates just days before the election.

TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 8, 2010) The University of South Florida, along with cable network CNN and the St. Petersburg Times, mayl host a gubernatorial debate on the Tampa campus.
The debate is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 25, the day after a debate will be held for candidates seeking the open U.S. Senate seat. The governor’s debate would air at 7 p.m. and be moderated by CNN anchor John King. The Senate debate will air at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 and be hosted by CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley .
The campaign for Republican candidate for governor Rick Scott accepted the USF debate Wednesday. Democrat Alex Sink has called for a series of five debates, but she has yet to accept the invitation to the Oct. 25 debate.
