Gubernatorial Debate A Go

USF will host the candidates for governor in an Oct. 25 debate on the Tampa campus.

TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2010) – Alex Sink, the Democratic candidate for governor, has agreed to a third debate with Republican Rick Scott on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida.

The event, to be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 25, is sponsored by USF, CNN and the St. Petersburg Times. CNN anchor John King will moderate.

The sponsors announced the possible debate in early September after Scott’s camp accepted the debate invitation. Sink did not immediately accept, but announced today she will participate in the CNN debate, bringing to three the number of statewide debates for the governor’s race.

USF’s Tampa campus will also host a debate involving candidates seeking the open U.S. Senate seat. That debate, also sponsored by USF, CNN and the St. Petersburg Times, will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 24.
