Quilt Show Nov. 6

Bi-annual event to feature more than 200 quilts and charity auction.

TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 11, 2010) – Enjoy both the natural serenity and beauty of USF's Botanical Gardens and the magnificence of more than 200 colorful, hand-crafted quilts swaying in the breeze when USF hosts the bi-annual Cypress Creek Quilters Guild quilt show, “As Our Garden Grows.”

A fundraiser for USF Hope House, a center for eating and weight disorders, the event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 6 (rain date, Sunday, Nov. 7) from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the gardens on the USF campus in Tampa. The live charity quilt auction hosted by local ABC station meteorologist, Stephanie Roberts, will begin at 1 p.m.

“The Cypress Creek Quilters Guild conducts this event every two years, and it is fabulous,” said Botanical Gardens Director Laurie Walker. “I have never seen anything more moving. We are thrilled to host this fundraiser for USF Hope House.”

In addition to the auction and display, there will be quilting demonstrations, a holiday boutique and quilt-related vendors. Food and garden seating will be available throughout the show, as well as a professional quilt appraiser (fee required for appraisal).

Small wall hangings to bed-size quilts will be on display and available for purchase. To preview a sampling of these quilts, click here.

Parking is free and admission is $5.
