Student Success: Undergraduate Admissions
A critical part of the Student Success initiative ensures that students admitted to USF are ready for college. More specifically, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions undertakes a recruitment program that is designed to admit students who have demonstrated by their test scores, high school GPA, and other academic success factors that they are prepared for rigorous university-level coursework and challenges. Early signs indicated that USF will meet its enrollment objective. To that end, the USF community will have an opportunity to help ensure that prospective students accept our offer of admission and enroll.
Throughout Spring semester, the Admissions team hosts a number of recruitment events on campus. The events attract academically high-achieving students while offering the opportunity and access for which USF is known. Each event includes activities that provide prospective students a clear picture of USF’s academic opportunities and highlight campus life. In addition, they offer interaction with faculty, staff and current USF students, insight into the admission and enrollment process, and demonstrate our commitment to student success. It is when students visit campus and converse with our USF community that they truly understand USF’s commitment to their success and how they can attain their life and career objectives by enrolling.
With the exception of Scholars Showcase, all OUA events are open to the public and attendance is encouraged for both admitted and prospective first time in college students.
Access USF takes place this Saturday, Jan. 29 from 9:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. in the Marshall Student Center. During Access USF, high school juniors, seniors and their families who will be the first-generation in their family to graduate from college learn about admission requirements, the application process, scholarship opportunities, summer programs and critical deadlines. In addition, guests may opt to tour campus, connect with current USF students and learn what it’s like to be a USF Bull! Registration is required and high school juniors are encouraged to bring a copy of their unofficial transcripts so our team of admissions counselors can provide individualized counseling to insure a student is on track to be successful. This event will also take place on Feb. 26 and March 26, 2011. For more information, or to register, please visit www.usf.edu/AccessUSF
Stampede to Success stands apart from other college events as prospective students meet faculty and advisors from their academic area of interest. In addition students and guests take campus and residence hall tours, learn about scholarship opportunities and the financial aid process, and come away with a taste of life outside the classroom as a USF Bull! Students may attend on either Saturday, Feb. 5 or Saturday, April 2. The program is from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Marshall Student Center. Registration is now open at www.usf.edu/Stampede.
Scholars Showcase is an invitation only event for academically-talented students who are Honors College eligible and prospective candidates for the Provost's Scholars Program. Students and guests interact with Honors College faculty, academic deans, advisors and current students. Scholars Showcase takes place the evening before Stampede to Success, affording a personal and intimate opportunity to explore current undergraduate research projects, special scholarship programs and a chance to dine with distinguished members of the USF community. Scholars Showcase will be held Friday, Feb. 4 and Friday, April 1st from 3:00 - 8:00p.m. in the Marshall Student Center. For more information visit www.usf.edu/USFSS.
