Time to Prepare for Fall Week of Welcome
The Fall 2011 USF Week of Welcome will officially kick off on Wednesday, August 17 and end on Saturday, August 27. In an attempt to create a comprehensive list of events, which provides students numerous opportunities to interact and involve themselves in the USF community, it is time to start thinking about activities, events, and any other special promotions that you would like to offer during this time period. This is an opportunity for your college, department or office to introduce yourself to all USF students and it gives your staff an opportunity to interact with our new first-year and transfer students.
The event submission process will begin on Wednesday, May 4. On this date, the event submission form will be made available on the WOW website and the deadline to submit events will be Friday, July 1. Here are some things that can help you as you start thinking about WOW:
USF's WOW website (www.usf.edu/wow) includes numerous resources for event sponsors. Click on the "sponsor an event" tab and you will see links to a checklist, timeline and various links and guidelines regarding planning your event. In addition, click here for a link to past years' WOW brochures. Please use these as a reference for events previously hosted during WOW by university colleges, departments, offices and recognized student organizations.
WOW Online Calendar
Please be sure to use the online calendar during your event planning process. The dates and times of the Campus Traditions and other large-scale events have been posted so everyone else can be informed of when these are happening and take this into consideration when scheduling their event.
WOW Event Planning Information Session
Based on feedback received from past event sponsors, there will be an information session to provide some guidance at the start of your planning process. The session will take place Wednesday, April 27 from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. in MSC 3711, and will include an overview of the entire event planning process, including the WOW objectives, guidelines for creating intentional programming, and the online submission form. Special guests will provide information about Multicultural Welcome Week (MCWW), the priority scheduling process for the Marshall Student Center and procedures for managing risk and ensuring safety at events.
