New Dining Options for Fall
USF recognizes that wellness impacts student success. To that end, has decided to add Champion's Choice, a new campus dining option featuring healthy food, as well as regional and traditional favorites.
This state-of-the-art facility will include four stations:
The Gold Energy Zone provides higher carbohydrate foods in the form of whole grains such as pasta and flatbreads.
Grille FiftySix features many lean proteins and nutrient dense items such as grilled chicken and vegetables while the Comfort Zone features healthy versions of traditional foods.
The Fresh & Green Zone offers students made-to-order sandwiches, as well as a salad bar featuring a wide variety of fresh and vibrant produce. This station also features all natural, roasted, fresh ground nut butter that is made fresh daily, including Natural Peanut, Organic Peanut, Honey Roasted Peanut, Almond and Peanut & Dark Chocolate.
The Hydration Zone features a Coca-Cola Freestyle® machine where you will discover 100 + drink choices. A sleek touch screen lets you sort through almost unlimited options to get the perfect pour.
Another new feature is Colombo Frozen Yogurt, which is available daily as a healthy dessert option.
Some other important features include:
A registered dietician created the menus and is a resource available to assist with any dietary need.
Champion's Choice will accommodate gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian lifestyles.
Nutritional information will be available at diners' finger tips: Ten iPads are strategically placed throughout Champion's Choice, enabling diners to access nutritional information for each menu item.
In addition to the reusable to-go box program and tray-less dining at the dining halls, Champion's Choice will expand sustainability initiatives with Platewise™ dinnerware. This revolutionary product is made of natural bamboo, is biodegradable, free of melamine and provides guests with a beautiful and eco-friendly dining experience.
Locally-grown fruits and vegetables are offered throughout the dining halls as part of the farm-to-table program, which helps support the local economy.
In addition to Champion’s Choice, a new Jamba Juice location at Toro’s will provide students with alternative, nutritious, on-the-go meal options. Jamba Juice is the category-defining leader in healthy blended beverages, juices and good-for-you snacks including a wide variety of smoothies, yogurt and more.
USF Dining created this unique combination of service offerings to meet students’ needs and preferences of balanced health, wellness and lifestyle goals. Champion’s Choice and Jamba Juice are open to the public and accept meal plans, dining dollars, debit, credit and cash. Champion's Choice also has the capability of separating the dining room for private events; available to reserve though USF Catering.
