Hillsborough Commission Honors Genshaft

USF President Judy Genshaft receives an award for promoting good government in her fight against state budget cuts.


TAMPA, Fla. (April 18, 2012) – The Hillsborough County Commission presented University of South Florida President Judy Genshaft with the Ellsworth G. Simmons Good Government Award Thursday for her fight against state funding cuts proposed by some members of the Florida Senate during this year’s budget deliberations.


The commission applauded Genshaft’s leadership in fighting the cuts. The award is named Simmons, a long time commission member who helped establish USF as a major university.


USF was recently ranked in the Top 50 by the National Science Foundation for research expenditures among all U.S. universities, public or private.
