TAMPA, Fla. (July 13, 2012) – The University of South Florida is now on Pinterest, the growing social media website that has encouraged millions of users to find and share inspiring and creative content.

To celebrate the launch of the USF Pinterest page, the university is hosting its first-ever Pinterest contest, “Pinning USF.” Users are encouraged to create their own USF-themed boards for the chance to win merchandise from the USF Bookstore, as well as the opportunity to become a contributing pinner for the official USF Pinterest page.

Pinterest is one of the fastest-growing social media websites in the world, increasing its user base by more than 4,000 percent in the last year, according to a report by ComScore. The invite-only website allows users to organize web content that they find interesting onto virtual pinboards. Additionally, users can browse the website to find new recipes, craft projects, products, and more.

On the USF Pinterest page, users will find several university-themed pinboards, including Bulls apparel, campus traditions, residence hall décor, and more. Fans of the university are encouraged to repin, like and comment on pins they find interesting.

Though the initial audience on the USF page is small, it continues to grow on a daily basis. USF now joins a group of progressive universities using the social media website, including Texas A&M University, Miami University, and Duke University.

With this latest addition, fans can now connect with the university on seven popular social media sites, including Facebook, Foursquare, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Twitter, and YouTube.
