Genshaft Receives Award
USF President Judy Genshaft is presented with the AGHE’s 2013 Administrative Leadership Award.
TAMPA, Fla. (March 4, 2013) – The Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) — the educational branch of The Gerontological Society of America — has named University of South Florida President Judy Genshaft as the 2013 recipient of the Administrative Leadership Award.
This honor, given annually, recognizes administrators on AGHE member campuses who have made exceptional efforts in support of gerontology or geriatrics education. The award presentation took place at AGHE’s 39th Annual Meeting and Educational Leadership Conference Feb. 28 to March 3 in St. Petersburg. This event provides a forum for professionals in the field of aging to present their work and share ideas about gerontological and geriatric education and training.
Genshaft has dedicated herself to making the Tampa Bay region a major player in the state and nation’s economic development efforts. Under her tenure, USF has emerged as one of the nation’s top 50 research universities, expanding the reach of its academic and scientific discoveries across the globe while engaging the local community in a number of transformative initiatives. Her leadership has played a significant role in recruiting major international research institutions to expand in the area, including Draper Laboratory and SRI-St. Petersburg.
