University Police is notifying the USF community that a planned protest will involve empty holsters.
TAMPA, Fla. (April 5, 2013) – The University of South Florida Police Department has been made aware of a planned protest that involves individuals wearing empty holsters on top of their clothing to promote their support of persons with concealed weapons permits being allowed to carry concealed weapons while on campus.
This is scheduled to occur on the USF Tampa campus during the week of April 8-12. An unknown number of persons are expected to take part in this protest. Community members should expect to see individuals wearing empty holsters throughout campus and may encounter individuals handing out literature regarding their cause.
As always, if you should see an actual firearm being carried by anyone other than a properly identified police officer, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
