TAMPA, Fla. (April 15, 2013) – The Department of Housing & Residential Education (H&RE) at the University of South Florida in Tampa announced today that it has entered into housing affiliation agreements with two local student apartment complexes, The Province and Avalon Heights.
Both properties are owned and managed by American Campus Communities, based in Austin, Tex., and are popular housing choices of USF students. These new affiliated partners complement the existing affiliated partnerships with 4050 Lofts and Campus Club Tampa, which were initiated last fall.
USF currently provides on-campus housing for over 5,400 students. Under the agreements, H&RE will refer eligible upper-class, transfer, and graduate students to these four affiliated properties as alternative housing options should the demand for on campus space exceed the capacity. Affiliated housing options are not available to first-year students who are required to live in on-campus housing.
As the result of this new outreach initiative to create a stronger connection with students living in the surrounding community, USF will move closer to achieving its strategic priority to be classified as “primarily residential” by the Carnegie Foundation. USF believes these partnerships will create a positive impact on the student residential experience.
Avalon Heights is located on Fletcher Avenue and Avalon Heights Blvd. on the north border of the USF Tampa campus. Managed by American Campus Communities, this property is designed to accommodate up to 754 individuals in 210 fully furnished apartments, including full size washers and dryers. Bedrooms include kitchenettes, mini-fridges, and microwaves. The property includes a fitness center and recreation center. The community is gated and additional security is provided by a courtesy patrol officer and an after-hours on-call staff.
The Province is located south of the USF Tampa campus at 10921 N. McKinley Drive. Also, managed by American Campus Communities, this property is designed to accommodate up to 947 individuals in 287 fully furnished apartments, including full size washers and dryers. The clubhouse area includes a movie theater, poker tables, billiard table, foosball, game room, 24-hour fitness center, tanning beds, 24-hour business center and two resort style pools with sun deck.
