TAMPA, Fla. (May 6, 2013) – Thousands of University of South Florida graduates and their families celebrate the weekend as USF awarded about 6,000 degrees in commencement ceremonies in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.



The USF College of Medicine will confer the medical degree at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, at the Straz Center in Tampa.


All ceremonies were presided over by USF System President Judy Genshaft.


In addition to the awarding of undergraduate and graduate degrees, an honorary doctor of science degree was presented to University of Missouri Professor Jerry Atwood Friday at 6 p.m.; INTO Founder Andrew Colin received the President’s Global Leadership Award Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and an honorary degree of medicine will be presented to former USF Trustee Rhea Law, Esq. at the College of Medicine Ceremony on Friday, May 10 at 10 a.m.


Also, the Department of Mental Health Law and Policy in the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences graduated its first four students from the new behavioral healthcare major – Shamery Fernandez, Candice Ormsby, Heather Palmisano and Shonda Richardson.
