Tampa Area Under Storm Warning
Tropical Storm Andrea will bring heavy rains and flooding to the region before making landfall north of Tampa Thursday evening.

TAMPA, Fla. (June 6, 2013) – Heavy rains and localized flooding associated with Tropical Storm Andrea is expected to impact the Tampa Bay region Thursday and overnight into Friday.
A tornado warning was issued for the Tampa area until 12:30 p.m., and a tornado watch has been extended until 10 p.m. Thursday.
The area is also under a tropical storm warning, and the National Weather Service notes bands of heavy rains and lightning may spawn tornados. The weather service has confirmed a couple of tornadoes south of Tampa in Hillsborough and Manatee counties. Read the National Weather Service’s latest news and advisories.
Tropical Storm Andrea is moving northeast through the Gulf of Mexico and will push past Tampa before making landfall later today in the Big Bend area.
The University of South Florida community is advised to take precaution and follow reports from the National Weather Service and local emergency organizations.
