TAMPA, Fla. (June 12, 2013) – Kendra Gaunt, a management information systems major at the University of South Florida, has been selected to serve on the Student Advisory Board for Pearson, a leading education firm that provides educational materials, technologies, assessments and related services to teachers and students.

Gaunt is one of 12 students from across North America selected to the board, which will work directly with Pearson’s leadership for the next year to convey college students’ concerns and needs, attend a summer Student Leadership Summit and develop programs to benefit students and provide input on learning materials.

A first generation college student, Gaunt is a member of USF’s chapter of the Caribbean Cultural Exchange and volunteers to help young school children with their academics. She also works in Student Rights and Responsibilities office.

“Kendra is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done,” said Chiqui Aldana, administrative specialist and office manager for Student Rights and Responsibilities. “Her desire to succeed is exemplary. This selection to the Pearson advisory board is only one example of the ways she seeks leadership opportunities.”
