USF Names New Chief Marketing Officer
Tom Hoof comes to USF after nearly a decade with Tampa Bay Rays.
TAMPA, Fla. (Aug. 1, 2013) – The University of South Florida is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Hoof to the position of Chief Marketing Officer.
As a key member of USF President Judy Genshaft’s Cabinet, he will act as USF’s thought leader and innovation expert around marketing and branding issues.
In his new role Hoof will evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions. He will oversee advertising activities through the Internet, broadcast outlets, mobile devices and direct mail; develop and achieve comprehensive branding strategies; and measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
Hoof will participate in all aspects of USF’s strategic planning process and will be responsible for the implementation of the university’s integrated marketing plan.

Hoof begins at USF Sept. 3. He comes to USF from the Tampa Bay Rays Major League Baseball organization where he served as Vice President of Marketing since 2005. Prior to that, he worked for Walt Disney World as alliance Marketing Director and as Brand Manager for Disney Sports. A graduate of the University of Richmond in journalism, Hoof serves as a board member for nonprofit organizations including The Children’s Dream Fund and Freefall Theater.
