President Presides at Tampa Chamber's Military Appreciation Event
As Chair of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, USF President Judy Genshaft gave welcoming remarks and presented awards during the chamber's annual Military Appreciation Dinner on March 3. Employee Assistance Program Conflict Resolution Seminar March 25
The Employee Assistance Program is offering a seminar titled "Stepping Out of Conflict," Tuesday, March 25 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Counseling Center Conference Room, SVC2126. The seminar will address conflict resolution skills to enhance job performance, reduce day-to-day stress, and provide benefits that are likely to carry over to personal life. 25th Annual Faculty & Staff Softball Event & Taste of Bulls Country April 5
The 25th Annual Faculty & Staff Softball Event & Taste of Bulls Country will be held Saturday, April 5 under the Oaks off Sycamore. Games begin at 9 a.m., with free food and beverages from more than 40 Bulls Country vendors from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and children's activities all day. Please order your shirts and hats by Friday, March 21, and sign up your softball team by Wednesday, March 26. For more information, click here.
USF Institute on Black Life 2008 Symposium April 9
The USF Institute on Black Life will host its annual Spring Symposium, "Memory, Culture and Community: African-American Life in Tampa" Wednesday, April 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Institutional Church, 1006 West Cypress Street. The event includes a history bus tour departing at 9 a.m. and returning at noon. Registration is $15, which includes all conference materials and lunch. The tour is an additional $10. Save the Date: USF Night With the Tampa Bay Rays August 2
USF Night with the Tampa Bay Rays will be held Saturday, August 2. USF Basketball Coach Stan Heath is throwing in the opening pitch, and LL Cool J will perform in a post-game concert, which is included in the game ticket price. Look for more information in future issues of the USF E-Bulletin.
Kersaint Awarded $5.9 Million Grant
Dr. Gladis Kersaint, associate professor of mathematics education in The David C. Anchin Center at the College of Education, has been awarded a $5.9 million grant from the Florida Department of Education to develop professional development programs for Florida science and mathematics teachers, many of whom are teaching out-of-field due to a statewide shortage of mathematics and science teacher educators. Berkman Appointed to Governor's Autism Task Force
Karen A. Berkman, director of the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, has been appointed to Governor Crist's new Task Force on Autism Spectrum Disorders. The task force will work to address the growing health crisis that autism represents through coordinating efforts and setting a proactive agenda.
