The Office of University Communications and Marketing (“UCM”) at the University of South Florida is sponsoring a single-prize photo submission contest during the week of October 31, 2013. To participate, USF fans are encouraged to create and submit photos of their own USF-themed pumpkins. Entries can feature the USF logo, colors, or other representations of the university. Below are further contest guidelines.
The contest is open only to legal U.S. residents, over the age of 18, who have a personal Twitter and/or Instagram account. Participant’s personal Twitter and Instagram accounts shall to set to “public” mode to allow viewing of the entry. Employees of UCM, and members of their immediate family and residents of their household, are not eligible to enter. "Immediate family" includes only an employee's spouse, parents, children and employee's siblings living in the same household. Participants must be a person – businesses and organizations with Instagram and/or Twitter profiles may not participate. There is no entry fee. Contest is void where prohibited by law, rule or regulation. One entry per person, per household.
No purchase necessary to enter or win. Each participant must perform the following tasks to be considered eligible for the prize:
1. Decorate, carve, and/or paint an original USF-themed pumpkin.
2. Post a photo of the decorated pumpkin on the entrant’s personal Instagram or Twitter account with the hashtag #USFPumpkin in the caption.
3. Email a link to the photo of the pumpkin, along with entrant’s name and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Contest entries will be accepted beginning October 28, 2013. All entries must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on October 30, 2013.
Following the conclusion of the entry period, all eligible entries will be reviewed by a panel of UCM employees. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, and demonstration of USF spirit. All decisions of the judges are final.
WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
The winning entry will be selected on or about October 31, 2013. The winning entrant will be notified by phone and/or email provided with entry. Following notification, the winner will be required to provide proof of identity and submit a Form W-9. Upon presentation of valid photo identification, and subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these guidelines and submission of necessary tax information, the potential winner will be declared the winner of the contest. UCM will award the prize only upon verification of the winner in UCM's sole discretion. In the event the winner does not accept the prize or is disqualified for any reason, the prize will be forfeited and shall be retained by UCM. In the event that any winner does not respond to the notification within ten (10) days of issuance for any reason whatsoever, a disqualification will result and the prize will be forfeited and shall be retained by UCM. Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given to the winner. Decisions by UCM as to winner eligibility and acceptance or disqualification will be final and binding. Should the winner fail to respond to notification, be disqualified, or not accept the prize, UCM reserves the right to select an alternate winner from the remaining eligible entries.
The winner shall be entitled to receive, upon compliance with contest guidelines, a $100 gift card to the USF Bookstore in Tampa, Florida. The prize is not transferable or assignable and cannot be substituted for another prize. Any and all taxes, fees, and other costs including but not limited to federal and, if applicable, state and local income and withholding taxes that may arise and be due or asserted on the value of the prize are the sole responsibility of the contest winner.
Participants hereby grant UCM a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to broadcast, publish, store, reproduce, distribute, syndicate, and otherwise use and exhibit the Submission (along with their names, voices, performance and/or likenesses) in all media now known and later come into being for purposes of trade or advertising without further compensation. UCM is not responsible for any errors that may occur in connection with the administration of the contest, the processing of entries, the notification of the winner, and any other announcements or telephone or in-person conversations relating to the contest. UCM reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate, modify, or suspend any entries should UCM determine, in its sole discretion, that any virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond its control have corrupted or affected the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the contest. In such case, UCM will select the name of the winner from all eligible entries received prior to the aforesaid action taken by UCM. UCM is not responsible for, and reserves the right to correct typographical, clerical or printing errors in any contest-related materials, including these guidelines. UCM is not responsible or liable for any events beyond the control of UCM which may cause the contest to be stopped, including but not limited to any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, nor is UCM responsible for any failure to enter the contest on account of technical problems or human error, or any combination thereof. UCM may exclude, disqualify or terminate participation in the contest to any entrant who, in UCM’s sole discretion: (a) ignores these guidelines; (b) acts in a manner UCM determines to be not fair; (c) acts with an intent to annoy, threaten or harass any other entrant or UCM; (d) acts in any other disruptive manner; or (e) tampers with the entry process. UCM reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, which changes will become effective upon publication of revised guidelines at www.usf.edu.
