USF Alumni Association Names Fall 2014 Outstanding Graduate Award Recipients

The University of South Florida Alumni Association has named three fall 2014 Outstanding Graduates, one for each regional institution of the USF System.

TAMPA, Fla. (Dec. 11, 2014) – The University of South Florida Alumni Association has named three fall 2014 Outstanding Graduates, one for each regional institution of the USF System. An Outstanding Graduate is a graduating senior who embodies leadership, school spirit, academic excellence, community involvement and a love for USF.

The Outstanding Graduate recipients will be recognized at USF Commencement ceremonies at their respective institutions:

John Tuy

John Tuy, Accounting, will graduate with a 3.91 overall GPA. Born in Cambodia, Tuy came to the U.S. with his mother when he was five years old and learned English from his first teacher who also instilled in him a passion for learning. Tuy is recipient of the Fred B. Seiber Foundation Scholarship that is awarded to students with at least a 3.5 GPA who overcame adversity and possess the characteristics of integrity, leadership and entrepreneurship. He is a member of the USF Student Advisory Board and the Beta Alpha Psi Honors Accounting Fraternity. He has accepted a third internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers for the upcoming spring of 2015, and he plans to complete a masters in tax after which he hopes to call PwC his professional home. Tuy will be recognized at USF Tampa’s commencement ceremony held on Saturday, Dec.13, 9 a.m. in the USF Sun Dome.

Angela Wilson
Angela Wilson, Education, has exemplified leadership during her years at USF St. Petersburg as a Student Government Senator, holding various positions including vice-chair and chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, vice-chair of the Committee on Special Funding and vice-chair of the Transit Task Force. As president of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in Education, Wilson saw the need for an educational-based organization for students and she founded Everyone’s Education Club. Wilson achieved all of this while maintaining a 3.92 GPA, working outside of school, and taking care of her sixteen year old daughter, Caitlin. She will be starting her Master’s program at USFSP this Spring and plans to teach in Pinellas County. Wilson will be recognized at USF St. Petersburg commencement ceremonies held on Sunday, Dec. 14, 6 The Mahaffey Theater.

Stephanie Boynton
Stephanie Boynton, Elementary Education, maintained a 3.69 overall GPA and 3.92 in her major as a full-time student at USF Sarasota-Manatee while also working full time, raising three sons and volunteering. Boynton served as a member, treasurer and president of Sarasota Manatee Inspiring Lifelong Educators, a club on campus known as S.M.I.L.E. Boynton also is a member of the board of the North Port High School (NPHS) Athletic Boosters Club, the vice president of the NPHS Theatre Guild and has been the NPHS varsity football coach's liaison and fundraising coordinator since 2011. After graduation, she plans to teach in the Sarasota area. Boynton will be recognized at a commencement ceremony held on Sunday, Dec.14 at 2 p.m. at the Bradenton Area Convention Center.
