USF Raises Record Total in Private Gifts
USF recently announced that private fundraising efforts reached $81,299,685 in gifts and commitments for the fiscal year that ended June 30. This total represents a record for annual charitable giving benefitting the university during its 52-year history. The record amount more than doubles annual fundraising totals from as recently as five years ago. For more information, click here.

Governor Announces Draper Deal Including R&D Center at USF
Governor Charlie Crist and Draper Laboratory's CEO Jim Shields announced that Cambridge, Mass.-based Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc., one of the world's leading independent research and development laboratories engaged in applied research, engineering and development, will be establishing a BioMEMS R&D Center at USF in Tampa and a Multi Chip Module (MCM) Center in St. Petersburg. KnowHow2GO Tampa Bay Launches College Access Campaign
KnowHow2GO Tampa Bay launched South Florida's version of the national KnowHow2GO college access campaign, with USF Associate Dean Catherine Batsche serving as Tampa's project director. The campaign helps young people--particularly low-income students and those who are the first in their families to pursue higher education--navigate the process of preparing for college. The USF Campus Directory has been updated and posted to the USF Web site for your review. It is current as of Aug. 1. If you have not sent your edits, the deadline has been extended to Aug. 27. USF Health Human Resources Moves to Main Office
The USF Division of Human Resources satellite office, located within USF Health in the College of Medicine building, has closed to consolidate with the main offices of the HR Division in the Student Services Building, SVC 2172. For more information, click here.
Open Enrollment and Benefits Fair
The annual USF Employee Benefits Fair will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alumni Center. State and other benefits providers will be available to talk individually with employees about benefits. For more information, click here.
Update Your Mailing Address for Benefits & Pension Information
To ensure that you receive your benefits open enrollment packet and FRS pension information, please review and update your mailing address on file with USF now. You may do so be accessing your personal account through Gems Self Service.
New Retirement Plan for Temporary (OPS) Employees
USF has announced a new retirement program for eligible Temporary/OPS employees. The new program, called the Temporary Employee Retirement Plan or TERP, goes into effect Aug. 8. For more information, click here.

USF Night with the Rays Sells Out
A sell-out crowd that included over 3,000 USF faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends watched the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Tigers 9 to 3. The game was followed by a free concert featuring rapper L.L. Cool J. Thanks to all who attended.
Student Demand to Live On St. Pete Campus Exceeds Goal
USF St. Petersburg residential life staff has reported that they have filled 351 student housing contracts for the fall 2008 semester. The target for fall occupancy was 300.
Single Game Football Tickets On Sale
Single game tickets for the 2008 football season went on sale to the general public Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. at the Sun Dome Box Office, all area Ticket Masters and online at GoUSFBulls.com. For more information, click here.

USF Receives Multimillion Dollar Award to Assess Juvenile Diabetes Treatments
The National Institutes of Health has awarded $127.7 million to the USF research team led by Jeffrey Krischer, distinguished professor of pediatrics at USF Health, to coordinate worldwide studies on the prevention and treatment of juvenile diabetes. This latest funding, a seven-year award, supports Krischer's coordination of the NIH network of clinical research centers known as TrialNet. For more information, click here.

Kaywell's Book Receives Recognition
Joan F. Kaywell's Dear Author: Letters of Hope was recognized as an NCSS Notable Book and made the 2007 VOYA Nonfiction Honor List. Kaywell is a professor of English education. For more information, click here.
Molinari Appointed to APA Task Force on Serious Mental Illness
Victor Molinari, professor of aging and mental health at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute, was recently appointed to the American Psychological Association's Task Force on Serious Mental Illness / Severe Emotional Disturbance. For more information, click here.
Alumni Association Wins Publication Awards
The USF Alumni Association earned several awards this summer for its alumni communications. The new Alumni Voice magazine earned a Hermes Platinum Award for Excellence in the Publications/Magazine category, the monthly AlumNews e-newsletter earned a Gold Award in the e-Newsletter category, and the 2007 Homecoming Campaign earned an Honorable Mention in the Advertising Campaign category. Additionally, Publications Editor Karla Jackson and Graphic Designer Ryke Cordisco earned Awards of Excellence, respectively, for Feature Writing and Meetings & Events Campaigns and Programs from APEX Communications Awards.
