USF Health dermatologist Dr. Neil Fenske receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Florida dermatology group honors Dr. Fenske for his 41 years of dedicated practice
In recognition of his 41 years of inspired patient care, mentoring of future dermatologists and lasting impact on the field of dermatology, USF Health dermatology expert Neil A. Fenske, MD, was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Fenske, professor and chair of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM), was presented with the award April 14 at the group’s annual meeting in Boca Raton, FL.
The award is among many across his career, including the Distinguished Service Award by the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery in 2016, and a Sesquicentennial Award from Dr. Fenske’s alma mater, Minnesota-based Gustavus Adolphus College, which presented the award as part of the school’s 150th anniversary celebration.
Dr. Fenske has been widely recognized by his peers in America’s Top Doctors, America’s Top Cancer Doctors, Best Doctors in America and the Guide to America’s Top Physicians. He is past president of five dermatology organizations and is past president for the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the Noah Worcester Dermatological Society. He was named in 2008 as one of Women’s Health Magazine’s Top 17 Dermatologists for women in the nation and the only physician in any specialty in the greater Tampa Bay area.
Dr. Fenske has been with USF since 1980, when he was recruited to initiate a training program for residents in dermatology. The program began with one resident and today trains 12 resident physicians a year – 400 to 500 applicants vie annually for those positions.
In addition to his contributions at MCOM, Dr. Fenske continues to serve USF Health as the medical director of the USF Health Cosmetic and Laser Center. Dr. Fenske’s specialties include skin cancer melanoma, psoriasis and cosmetic dermatology.
